The Tamburitzans perform at Young Auditorium
Whitewater, Wis – Combining authentic folk dances, live music, and exceptional costumes, the Tamburitzans will take audiences on a whirlwind tour of European cultures, Monday, November 20th at 7:30pm at Young Auditorium. Traditional routines are brought to the modern stage as artists convey the historical customs of Croatia, Serbia, Germany, Slovenia, Slovakia, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Romania, Greece, and Russia. The Tamburitzans put the richness and diversity of culture on display in this high-energy performance.
Hailing from Pittsburgh, the Tamburitzans are dedicated to delivering goodwill by perpetuating international cultural exchanges through music and dance performances. Most adept at presenting Eastern European cultures, the scope of their presentation has recently been expanded to include additional cultures that are also part of America’s diverse population. The Tamburitzans promote cultural exchange throughout the United States, and globally, through exceptional dance performances that elevate the folk arts and native cultures which they represent.
The Tamburitzans ensemble consists of 31 multi-talented performers from the United States, Serbia, and Slovakia. All are full-time students attending Pittsburgh-based colleges or universities. Most are undergraduates, while some are master’s degree students. Student performers receive scholarship consideration to work toward earning a degree in the field of their choice.
