Bluegrass Music with the Piper Road Spring Band
“February thaw, four days of rain” is a line from their title song off their 1977 recording Kettle Moraine. These lyrics speak of their beginning at the Fiends Club near Whitewater in 1973. Flash forward fifty years later, and their music is still going strong. Matheson Memorial Library is happy to welcome the Piper Road Spring Band back to Elkhorn: Randal Hoercherl on the fiddle, Bob Mason (an Elkhorn High graduate!) on the mandolin, Barry Riese on the guitar, Mark Hembree on the upright bass, Billy “Kangaroo” on the washboard, and Mike Schmidt on the banjo. Enjoy an evening of excellent music and meet the band after the show!
