Jake Sawyers created “Traffic in the Brain” to make the complex science of dementia easier to understand by using a familiar highway metaphor. This presentation offers attendees a relatable look at how communication works in the brain, how dementia disrupts these pathways, how dementia medications address key challenges, and why it’s essential for caregivers to have “headlights” that help them see what may be ahead.
Jake serves as the Dementia Care Specialist for the ADRC of Walworth County. With over a decade of experience supporting individuals and families on the dementia journey, Jake brings both practical expertise and a deep commitment to education. He has held the DCS role since 2022, following years of work within the long-term care industry.
