SUMMARY:Total Solar Eclipses -- History and Science
DESCRIPTION:This August a rare\, once-in-a-lifetime astronomical event will take place: a total Solar Eclipse - the first since 1979! Although Elkhorn isn't in an area that will see a 100% eclipse\, we will still be able to enjoy the sun covered by about 88% of the moon\, so it should still be very spectacular.\n\nJoin educators Ed Sadler and Frank Mills from Yerkes Observatory will give a fascinating talk on eclipses throughout human history\, the science behind a total eclipse\, and how best to observe one safely. We'll also be giving out special eclipse-viewing glasses\, generously donated by a grant from the Space Science Institute's National Center for Interactive Learning\, for you to take with you. Then be sure to join us on the 21st to view the eclipse!
